NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity
Anne Reynolds In the Lead after Non Pro Herd Work Sundowner Drawdown Begins!
September 23, 2003 - Former Non Pro Futurity Champion Anne Reynolds rode Legendary Colonel (Little Lenas Legend X Colonel De Light) into the lead after the herd work in the Non Pro Preliminaries of the National Reined Cow Horse Association Snaffle Bit Futurity on Tuesday. Reynolds, of King Hill, Idaho, posted a commanding 219 score to take a three-point lead.
Her two closest challengers, tied at 216, were Steve Twisselman of McKittrick, California on Hickorys Fancy Wisp (Colonel Wisp X Hickorys Fancy Lady) and Rachel Eady of Sisters, Oregon, on Sanjos LIl Angel (San Jo Lena X Colonel Lil Pistol) owned by her parents Ted & Keri Eady.
Twisselman also leads the $50K Non Pro, just a half point ahead of Tammy Jo Hays on Instant Cutter (SR Instant Choice X Lil Cuttin Lou) and John McCarty on Sir Hobbs (Mr Dual Pep X Miss Oskar Chex).
Hays, of Sulphur, Oklahoma, is leading the Amateur race, as well, with that 215.5. Stacey Warnock is right behind in that division, with a 215 on My Peppy Jeep (Genuine Jeep X Myrenes Badgerette).
Not all the action was in the arena at the Reno Livestock Events Center Arena on Tuesday, as the Sundowner Drawdown also began, with NRCHA Sponsor Committee Chairman Carol Rose drawing 100 names from the Drawdown hopper. In this special promotion, every member of the NRCHA had a name in the drawing, as well as the owner and rider of every entry that placed at an NRCHA approved show from January 1 through August 31.
On Tuesday, the thousands of names were reduced to a lucky hundred, and each day of the Futurity, eight names will be drawn and removed from the hundred. On Sunday, October 5, the final day of the event, twelve names will be left and the final drawdown will take place. The one name left after 11 more names have been drawn will win a new Sundowner 727 Three Horse Deluxe Horse Trailer valued at over $21,000!
Complete Results of the day's competition as well as the 100 lucky Sundowner Drawdown Winners are on the NRCHA website at www.nrcha.com.
