For 10 years now, AQHA and AQHA Corporate Partner Bayer have recognized those outstanding ranch remudas who operate daily using American Quarter Horses. The AQHA/Bayer Best Remuda Award began in 1992 as a way to recognize ranches that take pride in raising American Quarter Horses, an important tool of the trade.

The award presented is a commemorative American Quarter Horse bronze designed by renown equine artist, Lisa Perry.

About W.H. Green Cattle Company~
The W.H. Green Cattle Company was founded by a father/son team living in two Texas counties. Thomas Henry laid his foundation in Hill County while his son, William Henry, traveled up Texas Central Railroad to Stephens County and the little town of Albany.

The first herd of cattle purchased by William Henry were already branded on the left hip. That brand-J-was adopted as the W.H. Cattle Company brand and is still used today. The company runs Hereford and Black Baldy cows as well as stockers and is headed up by Billy Green (W.H. Green III).

Horses on the remuda trace back to Lemac Jan (Dan's Sugar Bars x Silma Sue x Hollywood Gold), Eddie Cinco and Black Beggar. Prominent horses from the W.H. Green Cattle Company include Lemac Jan, Golden Three Bars, Genuine Jan, Hickorys Lowenbrau, Reno Raider, Sonitalenas Bucky and Haidas Jan.

The company has participated successfully in competition winning more than $13,000 with Genuine Jan (Genuine Doc x Lemac Jan x Dan's Sugar Bars) in NCHA competition. Other Green Company successes are Hickorys Lowenbrau (High Brow Hickory x Lemac Jan x Dan's Sugar Bars), winner of more than $64,000 NCHA monies and Haidas Jan (Haidas Little Pep x Lemac Jan x Dan's Sugar Bars), winner of $147,000 in NCHA competition.

William Henry Green III (Billy) serves as the head of W.H. Green Cattle Company. He also is active among agriculture organizations and state-wide associations.
