Special Appearance of Renowned Spanish Olympic Medalist Rafael Soto

The Spanish breed of purebred stallions shot to fame internationally after winning the prestigious bronze medal at the World Equestrian Games in Jerez 2002 and the silver medal at the recent Olympic Games in Athens. As part of the event’s program, Rafael Soto, Spanish Olympic Medalist who participated in the Olympic Games of Atlanta, Sydney, and Athens, will highlight the unique qualities of the Purebred Spanish Horse through his lifelong experience as a horseman: his self-taught beginnings, his acceptance into “La Real Escuela Andaluza del Arte Ecuestre” and his triumphs in the highest of international competitions with his horse, Invasor.

Álvaro Domecq, the founder of “La Real Escuela Andaluza del Arte Ecuestre” of Jerez and one of the most important breeders of PRE horses in Spain including the infamous stallions Invasor and Ganadero of the Spanish Olympic Team of Dressage, will discuss the history, training, management, and breeding system.

The leading Spanish P.R.E. Horse breeders, along with accomplished trainers and owners will be presenting information about the culture, history, breeding and exportation of horses from Spain. Juan Carlos Altamirano, highly acclaimed scholar of P.R.E. horses, will discuss how and why this race was created, the guidelines formed by the people that made the achievement of this race possible, the reasons for its morphological characteristics and the places in which its creation was carried out.
