Endurance World Champion wins Festival 50 Mile Ride

kanavyWorld champion endurance rider Danielle Kanavy of Fort Valley, VA will defended her championship in the Sooner Trailer/USET Endurance 50-Mile Championship at the eighth annual Bayer/USET Festival of Champions, June 21, 1998 at USET headquarters in Gladstone, NJ.

Kanavy won last year's title by a mere one second over her mother Valerie, the 1994 Endurance World Champion. The 26-year old then defeated her mom by only one second yet again in the 1996 World Championship in Junction City, KS last September. Danielle's win there also led the U.S. Equestrian Team to the team Gold Medal, its first since 1988.

This year she won handily with her 15 year old Arabian, High Winds Jedi finishing 24 minutes ahead of second place Melissa Crain and Charbier.

The endurance ride at the Festival has become one of the more popular events in recent years as residents in the Gladstone area thrill to the site of these horses and riders riding through parts of the neighborhood on their way to the finish line.
