Women's Sports Foundation® and American Quarter Horse Association Announce
National Female Equestrian Award
EAST MEADOW, N.Y. (November 30, 2001) - The Women’s Sports Foundation and the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) are accepting applications for their 2002 National Female Equestrian Award. The award recognizes an outstanding female equestrian for her accomplishments as a horsewoman and as an athlete. "Since our association was formed more than 60 years ago we have seen a steady rise in women's membership and participation," said Bill Brewer, AQHA Executive Vice President. "Our partnership with the Women's Sports Foundation allows us to recognize those women athletes who are representing the American Quarter Horse in athletic events nationwide." "The Women’s Sports Foundation is honored to be involved with the American Quarter Horse Association,” said Women's Sports Foundation President Julie Foudy. “This program allows us to use the strengths of both organizations to create greater opportunities for girls and women in the equine community." Applications for the 2002 American Quarter Horse Association National Female Equestrian Award are available now and can be obtained by calling 1-800-227-3988 or by visiting www.WomensSportsFoundation.org. The deadline for applications is June 30, 2002. Winners will be notified in August 2002.
