North American Beaulieu Classic Horse Trials Announces New Features

Chatsworth, GA - February 6, 2004 - The North American Beaulieu Classic and Horse Trials announced today that it will feature several new aspects at its spring event, which takes place from April 2-4th 2004 at Chatsworth in North Georgia. Among the changes are 22 new cross-country fences designed by Capt. Mark Phillips and built by Eric Bull for the four divisions - CIC***, Advanced, Open Intermediate and Preliminary.

The Canadian team, trained by US veteran Jimmy Wofford, is planning to compete in the CIC*** division and will arrive at Chatsworth on March 29th for their final preparation.

A CIC event is a horse trials with the same format, i.e. dressage, cross-country and show jumping as the other divisions except that it is recognized by the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) as an international competition. Awards for the event include prize money of $10,000 as well as a trophy and ribbons.

Event Director, Jack Pollard, explained how the event is developing new features to widen its appeal to the public. “As one of the oldest international horse trials in the country, we are constantly striving to improve and enhance the event. With the Canadian team entered for the event that itself endorses the prestige of the competition. We’re delighted that Chatsworth is now so established on the spring calendar as the event that attracts the top international riders and we’re committed to producing an exciting sports event.”

In addition, this year will see the introduction of other new features including an international food village with cuisine from a variety of countries.
