Cathy Wieschhoff: a Kentucky Rider, sponsored by a Kentucky Whiskey, made it around the cross-country course at Kentucky for the first time since 1998. The hometown favorite rode Maker's Mark Westlord, an Irish Sport Horse by Hildenley (TB) out of Ballinvir Lady (ISH), by Master Owen (TB), bred by James Meagher of Ireland and owned by 2KY LLC. The pair finished in 28th place.

Leading up to the Rolex Kentucky CCI****, the pair won an Advanced horse trials at Fair Hill (MD). They have been training with Karen and David O'Connor for several months, and a new assuredness seems to be the result. With several years of International experience under her belt, Cathy is now ready to put the tough breaks behind her and reap the rewards of her concerted efforts.

Fair Hill and Burghley have been proving grounds for Wieschhoff, but for the last several years Kentucky has proved problematic. In 2000 she had a fall off of Spelga Dam, and last year she and "Milo" had to be extricated from an oxer when they fell under it and the horse was trapped. Though she had two refusals and 23.6 time penalties this year, Cathy was ecstatic after her ride.
