Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, Presented by Bayer, to be Broadcast Live

Lexington, Kentucky --- The 2001 Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, Presented by Bayer, April 26-29, will celebrate its first live European broadcast when the event airs Sunday, April 29, on Eurosport.

Eurosport will carry highlights of the dressage and cross-country portions of the competition followed by live stadium jumping from 7:45 - 8:45 p.m. CET (Paris). Broadcast in 18 languages, the Eurosport telecast will be available to over 85 million homes in more than 50 countries.

In the United States, ESPN will air the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event on Sunday, May 6, from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m.

The competition will also be televised around the world with a telecast available to over 175 million households in over 162 countries in dozens of languages. This will mark the most extensive television coverage of a three-day event, with the exception of the Olympic Games.

International ESPN networks airing the competition include ESPN Latin America, ESPN Atlantic and ESPN Pacific Rim. International ESPN and CNBC Asia and Europe will broadcast the event at a later date.

For the third year, television coverage of the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event will be produced by Hughes Sports Television (HSTV). The director, Jim Carr, was a member of the NBC production team that won an Emmy Award this year for the live broadcast of the Sydney Olympic Games. This year's featured color commentators are Tim Singer, U.S. Equestrian Team Olympic veteran Jim Wofford and Karen O'Connor, who celebrated her second Olympic team medal in Sydney.

"We are thrilled that the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, Presented by Bayer, will be available to a world-wide television audience," said Jane Atkinson, Executive Vice President of Equestrian Events, Inc., the organizing committee behind the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event.

The Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event is one of four eventing competitions in the world held at the four-star, or Olympic, level on an annual basis. Last year's event drew over 80,000 spectators over the four days of competition.

Video tapes of the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event are available from HSTV, tel: (518) 946-1280 or e-mail: hstv@whiteface.net.
