The Intermediate division was stepped up a notch this year, and Utah resident Andrea Lewis clinched the USCTA Area IX Championship after a disappointing experience at the same horse trials last year.

She and her nine-year-old thoroughbred Royal Blue tied for first after scoring 37.33 on their dressage test. She maintained the lead throughout the three days of competition, relying on Royal Blue's handiness and responsiveness, she said.
