Review Horse of the Year - Traque Le Vent
Lap of Honor
despite Broken Arm
Event
rider Marie-Jeanette Steinle (22) from Inning (on the Ammersee
in Bavaria) did not want to miss the 'Horse of the Year' presentation
in honor of her 14-year-old French 3/4 Thorobred Traque Le
vent. Despite a broken upper right arm, she climbed into the
saddle of her bay gelding to complete a lap of honor around
the show jumping stadium at the 62nd 1999 CHIO Aachen, including
a sprint through the pond.
The
young event rider had a fall at Breda international three-day-event
in Holland three weeks ago, when her horse - not Traque Le
Vent - somersaulted at a drop fence, and she was left to lie
unconscious for a half an hour before the ambulance arrived
at the scene.
Traque
Le Vent was voted 'Horse of the Year' by the readers of the
German equestrian magazine 'Reiter Revue International' (Dusseldorf)
with a large majority, because he was the best German event
horse at the World Championships in Pratoni del Vivaro (Rome)
last year. They are now aiming for the European Championship
in Luhmuhlen, Germany in September, where they also want to
impress the selectors with a view to the Olympic Games 2000
in Sydney, Australia.
