| Julie
Black, First in World Event Rankings
Julie Black from USA is the
first leader of the 1999 FEI HUSKY/PERA World Event Rider
Rankings. Thanks to her fifth place in the Rolex Kentucky
CCI**** (USA) riding Hyde Park Corner, and the seventh place
in the CCI*** competition at the same event, riding Bartolomeo,
Julie Black scored a total of 146 points which put her up
in the leaderboard ahead of fellow countrywoman Karen O'Connor
(142 points). In fact despite her splendid win in the Rolex
Kentucky CCI**** on Prince Panache and the 14th place in the
three star competition on Grand Slam, O'Connor was left behind
Black by only 4 points.
In
equal third place on 116 points are Andrew Nicholson (New
Zealand) and Heath Ryan (Australia); Nicholson was placed
second and eighth in CCI*** in Saumur (France) riding respectively
Mister Maori and Jagermeister II; while Heat Ryan was fourth
and sixth in CCI*** in Goondiwindi (Australia).
The
winner of Saumur's CCI*** Francesca Chaves Ramos from Portugal
is now second in Zone 2 (South-western Europe); while world
champion Blyth Tait (New Zealand) is in sixth place on 106
points thanks to his second place in Rolex Kentucky CCI****
riding Aspyring.
The
next HUSKY/PERA World Event Rider rankings will be updated
on 9th May on the final day of The Mitsubishi Motors Badminton
Horse Trials.
