Lexington,
KY The drivers representing the U.S. at the 2008
FEI World Championship for Drivers with Disabilities in Greven,
Germany continued to fill the top three places after the marathon
phase.
Meghan
Benge of Aiken, SC stayed in the Gold medal position going
into the final portion of the Championship. With Jack, a pony
borrowed from England, Benge drove to fifth place in the marathon
but her overall score was good enough to keep her in the lead.
Diana
Kastama, who brought her horse Jasper to Germany from Temecula,
CA, remained in the Silver medal spot with another good performance
in the marathon.
Rounding
out the top three, is the third and final U.S. driver, Mary
Gray. Like Benge, Gray is driving a borrowed pony. Rannock
and Gray were eighth in the marathon portion and less than
nine points separate first through third.
These
drivers have some of the best in the sport as their support
team. Keady Cadwell is serving as the Chef d’Equipe for
the Team, her sister Miranda is the Coach and Boots Wright
is there assisting both of them.
“We
are very happy,” said Keady Cadwell. “It was
a difficult course, they all drove well, especially the two
driving borrowed ponies.”
The
competition continues tomorrow with the Cones. |
