The Lexington Combined Driving Classic
A Sign of What’s to Come for the 2010 Alltech/FEI World Equestrian Games
by Mary Phelps for HorsesDaily.com

Chester WeberJack Kelly organizer for the 2010 Alltech/FEI World Equestrian Games stopped by the water obstacle at the Kentucky Horse Park with his wife Kathy to watch five time National Champion Chester Weber and his team of Dutch horses negotiate the brightly decorated labyrinth which utilized the Head of the Lake water complex.

In exactly three years from the date of the inaugural Lexington Combined Driving Classic, held October 3-7, 2007, driving teams from around the world will participating in the second week of the Games. “We hope the weather will be cooler in 2010.” Kelly commented, as Lexington broke the temperature record at 93 degrees.

“But if this is the first attempt at a FEI driving Event then we have nothing to worry about!” Kelly went on to describe just a few of the major changes which will be taking place at the Kentucky Horse Park in the area of the Head of the Lake water complex. The roads will be widened, and a full media center will be built in the vicinity.

There are already signs of progress as the pilings for what will be one of two hotel complexes within the horse park are in place. There is a multi billion dollar highway project going on throughout Kentucky with the eastern part of Highway 64 already completed.

Kelly is not concerned with ticket sales which will begin soon, and are anticipated to be well above 500,000 sold. "We want to be sure that opportunities to groups such as schools which will be in session then are available." said Kelly.
