Catherine Morelli
Cathy MacKinney Morelli has had a long and varied riding career starting with gaited horses at the age of three, and then hunters, jumpers and quarter horse barrel racing and pole bending competitions. She studied dressage under the tutelage of Major Dezso Szliaggi who was trained by the Hungarian riding school in the classical method. For many years Cathy has been totally devoted to training dressage horses and riders. She still rides six horses a day, while training other riders as well. In 1990 Cathy was the USET representative to the Volvo World Cup in‘s-Hertogenbosch Holland with her Grand Prix horse, named after her father, R.H. MacKinney. She is also a USDF Gold Medalist and has been a consistent grand prix winner on numerous horses that she has trained or retrained, all of which have been long listed with the USET. This year on the Florida Dressage circuit Cathy and her current horse, BeSe, won numerous USET selection classes including both the Prix St Georges and Intermediare I at the Winter Equestrian Festival Dressage Classic (WEF), in Wellington, the prestigious Palm Beach Derby Intermediaire I Freestyle. |
