Markel/Cornerstone High Point Series Winners at the Festival of the Horse Burbank

Winning a dressage class is one thing. Doing it with a score that is the best of the show is quite another. But that’s just what the four Markel High Point Series Winners did at the recent Festival of the Horse in Burbank, California.

It was perhaps no surprise that the high score winner in the FEI category was Steffen Peters and Floriano. The pair not only earned the high score award but also a spot on the U.S. Dressage World Cup team. Despite the fact that Floriano, owned by Laurelyn Browning, is 17, Peters said this dressage veteran has plenty of gas. They earned the high score award for their 73.417 percent from the $1,000 Grand Prix for the Freestyle Championships.

“I did not have to push him at all,” Peters explained. “He felt really strong.”
