Zada Enterprises LLC WEF Dressage Classic CDI-W CDIY Christopher Hickey and Regent Rule in FEI Prix St. Georges CDI Christopher Hickey and Regent set the lead early yesterday in the FEI Prix St. Georges CDI division and never looked back. The pair has had great success this season, and this week’s Zada Enterprises LLC WEF Dressage Classic CDI-W CDIY was no exception. The class was held over two days on account of the large number of competitors. Riding tenth in the order of about 50 riders, Hickey earned a 68.917 percent for the win. The 9-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding is owned by Breena Kucinski, and Hickey, sponsored by Dietrich Insurance, is the trainer for Hilltop Farm. "We were very pleased with the horse yesterday," Hickey commented. "He went in a good strong way, and I felt it was a fluid test. It was very consistent. He is still getting stronger and stronger. He is proving to be a very strong possible team horse." He continued, "I’m really ecstatic that yesterday he could go in the beginning third of the day – with the class starting at 9 a.m. and going until 5:30 p.m., and then six more rides today. His score held from 11 yesterday morning through the end of the day and the first part of this morning. That also tells us that the judges are happy to see him go." Hickey noted that because the pair is in already ranked high by the USEF in the standings for the Intermediaire I Championships and Pan American Games Selection Trials, this will be Regent’s last competition until the Festival of Champions in Gladstone, NJ. "I want to keep him home. When he showed here in February, he was quite strong and bright, and he hadn’t shown since June. Last year, I over-showed him and he got a little flatter and flatter. I wanted to keep showing him – I wanted him just to get in the ring, and he does not need that again this year. I will keep him home so that he comes to Gladstone fresh and not tired," Hickey explained. He added that the Pan Ams are definitely in his sights, but "We will see what happens." Lauren Sammis and Sagacious HF, also contenders for the Pan American Games, followed closely behind Hickey to take second place, earning a 68.167 percent. Shawna Harding and Come On III rounded out the top three places with a 67.917 percent. The FEI Intermediaire I CDI, which began today, will conclude tomorrow. Currently, Harding is leading the pack with a 72.250. FEI Prix
