2005 Dressage at Devon - American Junior Riders Championships Day One: Junior Preliminary Test Friday marked the first day of the Junior Championship weekend. Competition got under way starting with the junior preliminary test. Nine of the twelve riders competing in the team championships competed in the preliminary test after a morning of learning proper etiquette at a FEI vet jog. Winning the class today was Jennifer Dainer of California aboard her 10-year-old bay Rheinlander gelding, Troll (x Tanzer) with a 67.714%. Finishing second was Noel Williams of Ohio, the daughter of legendary FEI rider George Williams aboard the 12-year-old bay Hanoverian stallion, Pik-L (x Pik Bube II) with a 64.143%. Taking the third place slot today was Reena Idnani of Arizona aboard Levant, the 11-year-old bay KWPN gelding (x Voltaire) with a 62.714%. Spirits back in the junior barn were bubbly and light hearted. As summed up well by mom, Roberta Williams, the barn atmosphere is like a big sorority house of girls. All 12 competitors seemed to be very relaxed and were having a great time. Watching internationally famous riders riding all day long has been a real treat and inspiration for these girls. |
