2005 Dressage at Devon Sprieser Comes Back to Win the Young Rider Freestyle
The freestyle was put to Beatles music, which fit Lauren’s gigantic steed, L’Etoile 6 beautifully. L’Etoile is a 14-year-old Holsteiner gelding (x Ligorett) previously owned and shown in Germany by Olympian Monica Theodorescu. Lauren spent four months this past winter over in Germany training with Monica in preparation for this year’s extremely successful Young Rider season. Lauren and “Struppie” were members of the 2005 North American Young Riders Championships Gold Medal Team. The duo also won the Region 8 Young Rider Team and PSG Championship. Celebrating her 21st birthday this weekend, this will be Lauren’s last year in the Young Rider program. When asked about her future plans and goals, it became obvious that this girl has a plan. “I graduate from college in May and will be looking for a riding and teaching job that will allow me to think about graduate school. My next goal is to qualify Bellinger, my Grand Prix horse, for the USET Championship. Struppie is for sale, and I’m thinking about finding something young to bring along.” By Stacy Gormley |
