2003 Dressage at Devon

Dressage at Devon Wraps Up With Hattrick for Dr. Cesar Parra and Pik-L

Dr. Cesar Parra of Whitehouse Station, NJ, had a weekend of a life time at 2003 Dressage at Devon. Aboard Horses Unlimited's Hanoverian breeding stallion Pik L, Parra mastered the small tour in Devon. Scoring 70.000% in the Prix St Georges, 71.000% in the Intermediaire I and 72.333% in the Intermediaire I Freestyle, Parra was the only rider staying above the 70% magical limit for all his ride.

"He is the horse I love the most in my life," Parra confessed, "he's so consistent and always wants to work. He loves the crowd and grows a foot when he's in the ring." Pik L has been steady in every single test. "He knows what he's doing and it's easy for him." Pik L excels in his flying changes and has a very powerful medium trot. "In order for Pik L to move up to Grand Prix we have to improve the trot even more and have more engagement to get a good passage," Parra explained.

Pik L is a licensed breeding stallion by Pik Bube II out of Abaja. The stallion was sold to the United States through the P.S.I (Performance Sales International - located in Hagen, Germany) and has been sweeping all prices in Florida and finished fourth at the Pan American Games. He's owned by the generous Ann Whitten of Horses Unlimited

Parra has been a busy bee at Devon, competing one horse, schooling four and coaching nine students. "I'm burning my candle on both ends. I have been going to shows every weekend and am getting tired, but then I see my friends at the show and have so much fun." Parra swears by regular showing, because otherwise "you lose your edge."

ParraHorses Unlimited has recently acquired two new FEI level horse for Cesar Parra: Galant du Sereins and Leonberg. His student Emmy Adwers tried out the Selle Français stallion Galant du Sereins (by Apache d'Adriers) at Hubertus Schmidt's stable in Germany. Her loving the horse and appreciating its qualities was enough for Parra and Horses Unlimited to be convinced to buy him. The bay small tour trained Leonberg is his second acquisition.

Parra is hoping to qualify next year for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens
