2002 Dressage at Devon

Brons and Josien Win Morning Session Prix St Georges

Jan Brons and JosienReigning supreme in group A of the morning session's Prix St Georges, were Jan Brons and Josien. Although the dark bay Dutch bred mare has an almost camouflage colored coat in regard to the dark Devon footing, her looks and performance definitely stood out in the Gold Ring at 2002 Dressage at Devon.

The Dutch native Jan Brons, who has been living in the U.S. for 15 years, received an impressive 67.00% from the panel of judges which consisted in Yukins, Bachinger and Riexinger. Owned by Elizabeth Schaffner of Long Island, New York, Josien is a 15.3 hh Casanova offspring. With Brons in the saddle, Josien beat Lisette Milner's Eminence. Knoxville based Thirion-Milner rode her 7-year old KWPN bred Eminance to a 64.667% score. Her Burggraaf descendant ran a solid and fluent Prix St Georges.

Patricia Becker and the German bred Romulus (by Royal) placed third with 62.833%. Last year's winner of this class, Kimberley Deaton-Iwen and Grand Derneberg, now had to be content with a rather disappointing 8th place, scoring 60,750%.
