Agent Named P.R.E. Stud Book Agent for North America
This approval opens the door for owners and breeders in the U.S.A. to have their Pure Spanish Horses registered in the parent Stud Book and later approved as breeding quality horses. The Foundation’s President Barbara Currie said: “We are honored to have this recognition and acceptance by our parent Stud Book. We pledge to uphold the high standards maintained by this Stud Book since its inception in 1911.” In Spain, the Ministry of Agriculture (MAPA) which owns the Stud Book has given the management of the Stud Book to ANCCE, the largest national breeder’s association in Spain. It is the ANCCE which has accepted the application of The Foundation and approved it to be the sole representative of the Spanish Stud Book in the U.S.A. At the signing ceremony, the President of ANCCE said: “The Stud Book has always served as an instrument of union of the many countries who love and support this breed. We are confident that The Foundation will well represent the needs of all Pure Spanish Horse owners in the U.S.A. in their dealings with the parent Stud Book.”

The
Spanish Stud Book has recognized The Foundation for the Pure Spanish
Horse Association as their sole agent in the U.S.A. The Foundation is
the first entity recognized in the world by the new managers of the
Stud Book. 
The
Pure Spanish Horse (or Pura Raza Española, the P.R.E.) originated
in Spain at the direction of King Felipe II who demanded in 1567 that
the perfect horse be created. This horse was to have the beauty, the
nobility, the athletic abilities, the temperament which would permit
riders of any abilities to sit on a horse that was, quite literally,
fit for a king.
