WBFSH Announces 2006 World Breeding Rankings

DUO Breeding Prize Dressage

For the second consecutive year the Hanovarian bred Keltec Salinero (Salieri x Lungau) was the most winning dressage horse of the season. For his home crowd in Amsterdam he won the FEI World Cup Dressage Final for the third time in row. And to empathize his supremacy he gained two world record this year. During the World Cup Qualifier in ‘s Hertogenbosch, a perfectly balanced Freestyle resulted in a phenomenal score of 87.925%. Outdoor in Rotterdam the combination did it again. They won the Grand Prix with an all time highest score of 81,33%.

Salinero is bred by Horst Bünger from Germany. Salinero is not a typical Hanovarian dressage offspring. In fact Mr. Bünger wanted to breed a show jumper out of his mare Luna (by Lungau). It happens that Salinero’s full brother Seven Up is an international show jumper and in the Athens Olympic Games both horses competed. Mr. Bünger is the first breeder to win the Duo Breeding Prize for the second time.

DUO Breeding Prize Jumping

This seasons show jumping rankings were dominated by The Sixth Sense (by Zorro T). By winning three World Cup Qualifiers and the Grand Prix of Dortmund the only 10 year old gelding was in the lead from the very start. Mrs Brigitte Mette from Germany bred The Sixth Sense out of her mare Granada (by Grannus). She will be honored with the 2006 Duo Breeding Prize Jumping.

On the hole the Westphalians were very successful in the show jumping arena this season. With also Jessica Kuertens Castle Forbes Libertina (Libero H x Polydor) and Heinrich Engemanns Aboyeur W (Anmarsch x Fiola) in the top ten, they ended second in the studbook ranking, just ahead of the Holsteiner Studbook.

DUO Breeding Prize Eventing

Bettina Hoy and her 15 year old gelding Ringwood Cockatoo (by Peacock) were the best eventing combination this season. The most heavily discussed couple since their disqualification at the Olympics in Athens had an outstanding season start. After winning Chatsworth and Schenefeld and a second place at the Luhmuhlen CCI*** they proved to be on the right track for their ultimate goal; the gold medal at the World Equestrian Games on home soil. In Aachen they did win the team gold, but ended sixth in the individual ranking after a disappointing jumping round. Ringwood Cockatoo is bred in Ireland by Robert and Hilary Greer. For breeding the most successful eventing horse of 2006, the Greer family will be invited by sponsor Merial to the CSI in Geneva on Saturday the 9th of December. In Geneva they will be h! anded the 2006 Duo Breeding Prize, together with the breeders of the best dressage and jumping horse.
