Equestrian Center at Pineland Farms
The Equestrian Center at Pineland Farms, nestled in rolling countryside just north of Portland, Maine, is fast becoming a destination for dedicated riders pursuing excellence in the sport of dressage. Their high level of commitment to providing ongoing educational opportunities is complimented by a program designed to give participants access to the level of support and guidance critical to developing riders and their equine partners to their full potential.
This dynamic program has stemmed from the vision of Head Coach Michael Poulin and Lead Trainer Gwyneth McPherson. Recognized internationally for his contributions to the sport of dressage, Poulin embodies the commitment and dedication necessary to become a successful amateur or professional rider. His depth of knowledge is rooted in experience garnered as a competitor, trainer, instructor and FEI 4* judge. Considered to be “a trainer’s trainer” by his peers, Poulin is a problem solver and passionate proponent of classical riding. McPherson is a seasoned trainer and accomplished competitor. The product of three Olympians – Lendon Gray, Carol Lavell and Michael Poulin – she understands the challenges that face riders of all levels who want to improve.
"Every rider with the right attitude can reach the Grand Prix level." — Michael Poulin
The Equestrian Center offers a variety of training packages which include private or semi-private instruction, stabling, and accommodations for up to nine individuals. Riders may come by themselves or arrangements can be made to accommodate groups who wish to travel and ride together. Facilities include a 260’ x 100’ heated indoor arena with LiteStride footing, newly refurbished 250’ x 100’ outdoor arena, stabling for 30 horses, fitness room, and classroom space. Well suited for events, Pineland Farms has provided a venue for the New England Dressage Association’s Fall Symposium as well as hosting national and international clinicians.
The Equestrian Center is part of the 5000-acre campus of Pineland Farms, which includes cross country skiing, biking and walking trails, a working dairy farm, a cheese-making operation, educational activities for children, and The Market – a local favorite for fresh produce, freshly made soups and sandwiches, and Maine specialties.
