Here at Wyning Edge Friesians, we are not only charting new waters and breaking down barriers with the Friesian, we are WINNING and placing in the Top Ten for the entire US! It is so wonderful to see the Friesian breed being embraced and now welcomed into the National spotlight, especially with such a young and outstanding stallion as Eeltsje F. Imported in 2005 and undefeated in dressage in Holland, Eeltsje is the first and only Friesian ever to compete in both the USDF Young Horse Championships and the USEF National Developing Horse Championships. He and his trainer, Nicole Glusenkampare are opening doors for the Friesian breed and proving that they can and do win in the upper levels of open dressage competition. Eeltsje F. has achieved levels never before attempted with the Friesian breed. In 2006, he qualified in the top 20 for the USDF FEI Five-Year-Old Young Horse Championships in Lexington, Kentucky and split the field by placing 10th in the nation of all five-year-old dressage horses. A feat never before tried or accomplished by a Friesian. In 2007, he again qualified for the 2007 USDF FEI Young Horse Championships, this time as a Six-Year-Old. Once again, a Friesian had never made the cut before. Nicole and Eeltsje competed side by side with many talented horses/riders to end the intense competition by placing 5th in the US!
Eeltsje F. is an exceptional representation of the Friesian breed. He descends from Stam 50. Not only does Eeltsje have the prestigious full papers, Ster Preferent, Ster Preferent, Model Preferent, Model Preferent, Ster Preferent, Model Preferent, Model Preferent, but he also hails from a line of mothers that consists of some of the most outstanding Friesian mares in history. We have decided that 2009 will be Eeltsje’s first year breeding. He is an amazing athlete with superior gaits, very handsome with tons of mane and tail and a fabulous temperament. In 2008, Eeltsje and Nicole completed the USDF open dressage competition season at Prix St. Georges levels and have gone on to place 10th in the US in the USEF FEI Developing Horse Championships in Kentucky! He has been chosen as the horse to represent the Prix St. Georges level in the weekend Symposium presented by five time Olympian Kyra Kyrklund for the 2008 USDF Convention & Symposium to be held in Denver, Colorado on December 6th & 7th.
