Soraya is just back from a successful show season in Florida where she was always in the ribbons with scores in the 70s and high 60s . She was ridden by 3 time Pan Am competitor for Guatemala, Esther Mortimer. Soraya now training 3rd level showing an incredible talent for dressage. Piaffe and Passage come naturally for her. The changes are already off the aid and the lateral work is easy for her. In her Mare Performance Test she received an 8 for rideability. Judged by the German judge Ludwig Christman she also got 8 for general impression 7.5 for walk and canter and 7 for her trot. These scores are similar to those she receives in the ring. Three FEI 5 (level O) judges awarded her scores in the 70s , including a 75% from Cara Whitham with 8s for implusion when in 2013 SORAYA was Ontario Reserve Champion Training Level. Stephen Clarke has described Soraya as a “very talented”, “balanced” and “clever dressage horse” with “much ability”. Soraya also impressed Desi Dillingham, who helped turn around British Dressage in time for the 2012 Olympics and now is a Special Adviser to Dressage Canada.
Given her breeding Soraya’s talent for dressage is not surprising. Her sire is Sandro Hit who for the last 3 years was awarded the USEF Leading Dressage Sire in the USA. The Dam’s sire is the famous dressage sire Donnerhall, whose lineage lives on in the vast majority of top Olympic and World Cup horses today. The Sandro Hit/Donnerhall combination has led to such fabulous dressage horses as Sir Donnerhall.
Soraya’s dam is the Hanoverian Elite Mare Denebola, an overall “8” mare, who was featured in the 2000 German Hanoverian Verband magazine as “Quality under the Maple Leaf”. Both Denebola and her dam before her (SPS Dukate) were Eastern Canadian Hanoverian Champion Mares. Denebola had both a successful breeding and dressage career winning an Ontario Dressage Championship with scores as high as 78% and showing at the Prix St George level. This same mare line produced Raffles/Reipo, who represented Canada at the 2007 Pan Am Games as part of the Canadian Silver Medal Dressage Team.
Soraya, now training 3rd level, has only been professionally ridden. She has no vices and no lameness issues. She loves her work and has lots of character. Soraya's talent for dressage is outstanding; her training/riding to date professional; and, her pedigree superb. She is without a doubt someone’s Grand Prix horse of the future.
