Born in Nigeria, Africa, her life in the saddle had an early start while chasing antelopes while riding ponies on her family’s ranch. Her formal training began in Germany as a teenager, after which her show career continued in Canada before moving to the Dominican Republic. There, she and her husband Eduardo Muñiz founded a private training facility, Las Marismas, followed by a breeding station at the family farm in Canada.

Yvonne medaled consecutively in the 2003 and 2007 Pan American Games, while also influencing and supporting her students and teammates. 2010 was a year of highs and lows: Yvonne earned two individual silver medals at the 2010 Central American & Caribbean Games with her Danish Warmblood Dondolo Las Marismas. She also qualified to represent the Dominican Republic in the Alltech/FEI World Equestrian Games with her Austrian Warmblood Optimus Prime, who tragically succumbed to laminitis shortly after her return from the regional Games held in Puerto Rico. With the support of family and friends, and inspired by an excellent string of upcoming horses, Yvonne is excited about being once again in the United States, and looking forward to a building her business at one of south Florida’s prime training centers.
