The Virginia Horse Center has utilized the winter months to begin tackling many major maintenance improvements, including brand-new, state-of-the-art footing in the Wiley Ring and warm-up ring!
Providing exhibitors with the highest quality footing available is one of the first objectives of the Horse Center's current, early-stage capital improvement plan. In the Horse Center's commitment to making the rings the best they can be, Allen Rheinheimer was hired for the resurfacing of the Wiley Ring and the accompanying covered warm-up area.
Rheinheimer is one of the only U.S. based FEI footing experts. His expertise has been vital in developing a new ring drainage solution, resurfacing the rings and even laser-leveling the ring in the Anderson Coliseum.
The ring is the first on the list of a number of recently completed or ongoing maintenance improvement projects including the following:
- Replacement of the HVAC system in the Anderson Coliseum and the administrative office areas. This improvement will allow for reduced operating costs moving forward.
- Remodeling of the Appomattox Mezzanine to improve the appearance in order to better serve and attract events.
- Paving of the roadway between Barns One and Two.
- Painting of barn roofs.
