She started out breaking racehorses, then competed up to the Intermediate level in eventing, but Kathy Priest's real passion is for dressage. Together she and husband Dr. Gary Priest, DVM, run Woodspring Farm in Versailles, Kentucky. Kathy competes in upper-level dressage and trains and imports young horses from Europe. She is also a devoted mother of two children, David, 18, and Katie, 16.
Even though Kathy is busy full time running Woodspring farm and its Bordeaux breeding program, she still extensively competes her horses at FEI level. Her top horse of the moment is the Belgian warmblood gelding Shostakovitch (by Weltmeyer). In the 2004 show season, "Shosty" and Kathy have won the Gold Coast CDI and Paxton Farm CDI at PSG-Inter I level. They were also proclaimed MSCTA FEI Champions.
