Volcano in Iceland Causes Major Changes to the Test Events for the 2010 Alltech/FEI World Equestrian Games

“Who knew a volcano in Iceland would affect a Dressage show in Kentucky.” said Lloyd Landkammer, organizer for the test trial for the Dressage at the Kentucky Horse Park, the site for the 2010 Alltech/FEI World Equestrian Games. Due to the grounding of airplanes world wide International “O” judges Stephen Clarke from Great Britain and Wojtek Markowski from Poland could not make it, leaving Landkammer and officials for all events doing some fast phoning. Everyone worked together and we are now sharing scribes and officials in Dressage with the Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event whose international ground jury was also unable to make it. The jog for the Dressage caused a bit of high drama as concerned competitors did not want to jog on the usual hard topped lane used by the event competitors.
With superior footing now in all the arenas of the Kentucky Horse Park horses walked from the holding arena to the High Hope Lane which was slightly downhill, and several horses were asked more than once to repeat the jog. But all were accepted, and competition begins today at 10:AM with the Grand Prix for the Freestyle.

The updated judging panel will consist of Janet Foy, Linda Zang, Mary Seefried, Joan McCartney, and Charlotte Bredahl.
