Victoria Colvin and Krystall Dominate

Wellington, FL - Junior Hunters were showcased today in the Rost Arena and E.R. Mische Grand Hunter Field at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center.  The hunters are in their third week of competition at the 2010 FTI Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF).

The Large Junior Hunters 15 & Under were the first of four junior hunter divisions to be awarded championships this weekend, and 12-year-old Victoria Colvin of Loxahatchee, FL, added yet another championship to her list of accolades when she received the Large Junior Hunter 15 & Under Championship today aboard Scott Stewart's Krystall for the second week in a row.

Colvin and Krystall placed third and first over fences yesterday and were second and fourth today. They were first in the under saddle for a grand total of 32 points. Lillie Keenan and Stewart Moran's Madison placed fourth, second, and first over fences, as well as fourth in the under saddle to earn the reserve championship.

Colvin and the stunning seven-year-old gelding have already had many successes this year, and when commenting on his ride Colvin noted, "You have to use a little bit of leg at the jumps, but he's pretty easy going, and he has a really good personality." "He's a Second Year Green horse this year, and he's just amazing," Colvin's mother added with a smile.

Colvin has been riding since she was six-years-old, and is currently riding under the tutelage of Scott Stewart.  Throughout the weekend, Colvin will show nine horses and ponies, including one horse in the Children's Jumpers.

Although she has already accomplished so much this circuit, Colvin has her sights set on the $50,000 Chronicle of the Horse/USHJA International Hunter Derby that will take place during week 12 of the FTI Winter Equestrian Festival.  "I want to win a derby," Colvin replied when asked of her goals for the rest of the circuit.  She probably will not show Krystall in the derby, and plans to ride World Time, another Stewart mount, instead.

Colvin lives close by in Loxahatchee, FL, which makes competing at the FTI WEF convenient for her.  She is a 7th grader at #1 Education Place, which also helps cater to her busy show schedule.

The third week of hunter competition will conclude tomorrow with more Junior, Amateur, and Pony championships.
