Willy Arts’ second mare in the Young Horse competition was Valaska, a six-year-old by Crack C out of Polumbria who is out of Columbria. Valaska topped the day’s Young Horse scores with an 8.3 overall, which qualifies her to represent the U.S. and to compete at Verden this summer. The judges used the word, “volume” to describe her lofty and powerful canter. Arts remarked that, "At home, you should see her. All her gaits have 'volume.' Her legs are up around her ears when you lunge her.”
Valaska has been bred at DG Bar Ranch and has a two year old by Contango. Next year they will try embryo transfer with her. Reserve Champion Six Year Old was the Oldenburg stallion Hit Parade SFS and ridden by Sandy Burns-Gardner. Hit Parade is owned by Sandy and her two sisters who together operate Savoir Faire Stables in San Marcos.
