The thrill of a lifetime, and for the third time for Steffen Peters, the United States Dressage Team joined in the official beginning of the 2012 London Olympic Games at the magnificent opening ceremonies Friday night July 27, 2012. Team competition is set to begin August 2, and our Olympic reporter/photographer, Diana De Rosa who is out on cross country today with the Olympic Eventing will be sending lots of imagery as I try to keep up managing the flow of information from my home base in Kentucky. And this just in for the USA Technical Director “the boss” Anne Gribbons:
“We are now in London. The venue is phenomenal, everything working well, and it is obvious we are in a "horsey" country. They know what hires like and need. Today is cross-country, and half way through we are sitting third after a fast and can ride by Karen O' Connor. The course is a work of art but quite tough because of the hilly landscape, and requires a fit horse. Not easy to finish within the allowed time.
Our dressage horses are settled in, and they are looking good and working well. Tomorrow is vet check, and then we have one day before the start of the Grand Prix. Weather threatens to rain every day, but the cool temperature works for our horses and they are nicely fresh.
Check out the new design in judges' boxes: surround view the spectators can see though. Round plastic windows, which can be full closed or half open. Looking forward to hearing what the judges will think when they are done.
Very cool at first glance!
Got to go to work, continue to pray for us.
