Guenter Seidel and UII have returned to Germany and got a much better start this year with his Grand Prix mount winning the Grand Prix and the Grand Prix Freestyle (73.40) at the Hamburg CDI4*. Just one year to the week since suffering a broken pelvis in a riding accident on UII (KWPN by Jazz out of a Rohdiamant mare) after having just arrived in Germany to train and prepare for the 2010 Alltech/FEI World Equestrian Games selection trials with long time trainer Klaus Balkenhol, Seidel was sidelined for recovering and rehabbing his injuries before returning to the arena at the Dressage Affaire in Del Mar in March, where in their first outing they won the Freestyle. “UII had some mistakes in the canter work in Grand Prix but did a good piaffe and passage.” Seidel told DressageDaily. “But he was better in the freestyle in quite a difficult and spooky arena.”
Seidel also did the Grand Prix test ride with his other mount, KWPN Sundayboy (by Kennedy) scoring a 71%. Seidel and Dick and Jane Brown’s two horses will now train and do some smaller shows before heading to the CDI in Fritzens, Austria, where the of the several Americans currently in training and competing in Europe with be selected for the US Nations Cup Team for Aachen.
