Just as a horse and rider learn to become one harmonious unit, Parelli and Dr. Susser individually address what holds performance back in each member of that partnership.
“Negativity is an innate survival instinct,” says renowned equestrian sports psychologist, Dr. Jenny Susser. “I can teach riders how to unlock the true reasons for their frustrations, fear and lack of progress. To develop a 'tack box' of tools that help a rider become an emotionally fit leader not only for their horse but for everything else they want to accomplish in life.”
“Horses are also programmed for survival,” says horse trainer and behaviorist, Linda Parelli, “As prey animals, horses are genetically programmed to be fearful. I can teach strategies to help your horse overcome that panic default and become a willing partner able to work through nervousness, tension and fear towards greater riding harmony.”
“Horses are born skeptics and cowards,” says Parelli. “Helping a horse become more emotionally fit provides a powerful model for their human.”
Dr. Jenny Susser has a doctoral degree in Clinical Health Psychology and specializes in Sport Psychology. She is a Certified Consultant with the Association for Applied Sport Psychology and on the U.S. Olympic Registry. Linda Parelli went from frustrated horse owner to one of the best known horsewomen in the world through the Parelli Horsemanship program she offers with her husband, Pat. "I want people to know that it doesn’t take talent, it doesn’t take bravery and it doesn’t take years to get there. It takes heart, desire and access to a teacher willing to share what they know in a way that is simple to understand. It's a journey of relationship and self-discovery. It literally changed my life and I want to share that same journey with people and their horses.”
The chance to start that journey is now. The Emotional Fitness Super Clinic will start February 27, Friday evening at 6:00 p.m. and conclude Sunday.
