October 27, 2011 - HRTV, The Network for Horse Sports, will bring special coverage of the second annual Pfizer $1 Million Grand Prix to broadcast telelvision and HRTV.com tonight at 9:30 p.m. ET. HRTV and A Good Show (AGS) joined forces to both deliver a live webcast of the world's richest day in show jumping and produced a one-hour television show, giving viewers a behind the scenes look at HITS' Pfizer Million.
"We are proud to bring this highly-anticipated event to our viewers and believe this type of top quality equestrian competition is an excellent complement to our world class racing programming," said Scott Daruty, President of HRTV. "Our relationship with the HITS organization means that we are well-positioned to bring our viewers additional high-caliber equestrian competitions in the future."
During the event, the live webcast attracted over 131,000 visits from 56 countries. A staggering 82% of those views came from the United States. As a result of a multi-year partnership with HRTV and A Good Show, select competition from the national HITS show series will be brought to broadcast television.
“This year’s Pfizer Million far exceeded even our own expectations,” said Tom Struzzieri, HITS President and CEO. “The support for this event has grown tremendously over the past two years and having the opportunity to work with HRTV and A Good Show to film and produce this spectacular one-hour show has contributed to our efforts to bring this event to the next level. I am proud of the end product and believe that this event is a great example of what’s next for American show jumping.”
Forty-five unique horse-and-rider-combinations challenged Olympic course designer Steve Stephens' course on September 11, 2011. Tonight, HRTV will chronicle the trips of some of the world's most talented equestrians, both human and equine, over 16 intimidating jumping efforts. Through one-on-one interviews with national and international Grand Prix riders, coverage of the world-class event and industry information, HRTV and A Good Show will paint a vibrant picture of elite show jumping.
