Topping the field in the Grand Prix qualifier for the Special at the 2000 Palm Beach Dressage Derby at White Fences Equestrian Estates, were Tina Konyot and Irene Kooyman's Justice. Putting 68.72% on the score board, the graceful Konyot made Robert Dover the runner up in the rankings as he gathered a 66.92% with the Hanoverian Everest. However, it was Dover who rode to victory in the Grand Prix Special with 70.61% while Justice danced once again to 68.96%, ending in a second position.
Irene Kooyman was encircled by an aura of pride because of Justice's "ICI" cool performance at the Derby, which ran from 3rd to 5th March 2000. Kooyman is a famous horse dealer, and owner of ICI Stables, in DeLand, Florida, importing quality dressage and jumper horses from Europe. "I started with ICI Stables 8 years ago and in this period I bought and sold 78 horses; Justice is one of them," Kooyman explained. "My steady rider Nichola broke Justice and then he went to Michael Poulin's for further training."
Justice, a 9 year old KWPN gelding, was set to be sold to Mexican Joaquin Orth, but when Konyot's first horse died, she contacted Kooyman and persuaded her to change the deal. From then on Konyot and Justice formed a steady pair. After Tina and Justice's intensive training and showing campaign in Europe, the combination is now enrolled in a string of victories on the Floridian peninsula, making them strong Olympic contenders for the American Dressage Team.
