Suspense and Excitement in Verden - US Dressage Team to Be Decided August 9

Suspense around the naming of the US Team for the 2006 FEI World equestrian Games - Aachen grows. The results are in from the Verden CDI*** where Leslie Morse, Arlene Page and Catherine Haddad went head to head in a final competition for a spot on the team for the WEG in Aachen. Haddad, the clear "winner" of the competition between American candidates was placed 5th in the Grand Prix (68.71%) and 2nd in the Grand Prix Special (69.96%).

The CDI*** was heavily visited in Verden with 39 competitors in the Grand Prix from 10 nations. Isabell Werth won both the Grand Prix and the Grand Prix Special on Satchmo. The competitive field also included Hubertus Schmidt, Rudolf Zeilinger and Klaus Husenbeth.

  • Catherine Haddad and Maximus JSS 68.71% 5th 69.96% 2nd
  • Leslie Morse and Tip Top 66.17% 13th 66.80% 5th
  • Arlene Page and Wild One 67.88% 10th 64.68% 9th

Debbie McDonald with Brentina, Günter Seidel with Aragon and Steffan Peters with Floriano are the first three members on the US Team. The fourth member will be named on Wednesday.

Alternates to the Shortlist, Heather Blitz with Arabella and Susanne Dansby Phelps with Cooper, also competed in the Grand Prix in Verden with scores of 65.58% and 60.25% respectively.
