Wellington, FL-November 20, 2001-The FEI World Children's Jumping Finals will be held at the Palm Beach Polo Equestrian Club on November 26-December 2, 2001. Sixteen of the best placed riders on the FEI Children's International rankings between the ages of 12-14 are invited to compete against sixteen riders from the USA who are selected by the United States national federation. The foreign competitors are invited by the FEI (the governing body for International Equestrian competitions) through their national federation. The nations that will be represented during the week-long competition will be South Africa, Russia, Lithuania, Japan, Columbia, France, Mexico, Argentina, and Saudi Arabia. The United States will provide the horses for all competitors.
World-class course designer, Steve Stephens of Palmetto, FL, will design every course. Each qualifying course that was used around the world was of identical specifications and was designed by Stephens.
"We are very excited to be able to offer this event into Palm Beach County, as this event moves from year to year to a different country. Last year's event was held in Chile and it was a spectacular event for children's jumpers. The Internationale Arena at Palm Beach Polo Equestrian Club met all the strict criteria of the FEI, which makes us very proud of our facility," said Eugene R. Mische, president of Stadium Jumping, Inc., the nation's leading producer of Hunter-Jumper horse shows in the United States. Showcasing this event and the competitors is imperative to the continued growth of the sport of show jumping, as these young riders are those that aspire to become their nations next Olympians.
