“Our horse care is unparalleled in the Atlanta area,” Julie Shannon states.
Three barns at Shannondale Farm provide stabling for 30 horses and feature well ventilated stalls with mats and fans. Stalls are cleaned several times each day and bedding is deep and banked. Fresh water is available at all times and buckets are scrubbed daily. Each barn is equipped with hot water wash racks. Horses enjoy grass pastures with cultivated grass and four-board fencing. Paddocks are cross-fenced with lanes.
Shannondale Farm offers clients boarding/training options. “Deluxe Board” is the full-care main service and from this option clients add on various training programs. Horses receive feedings of timothy hay and grain two to three times per day and more often if needed; daily turnout for five to six hours daily in grass pastures, individually or in compatible pairs according to each horse’s preference; daily grooming, including hooves picked and body cleaned after turnout each day; blanketing according to temperature at all times of the year, from flysheets to heavyweight blankets; de-worming rotation every other month throughout the stable; and monthly tracking of veterinarian and farrier scheduling according to the individual horse’s needs.
The “Premium Care” option includes all the amenities of Deluxe Board plus show quality extras such as baths, wraps when needed, preparing for shows, and laundering saddle pads and wraps. “Give us 12 hours notice and your horse can be groomed and tacked for you to ride and we'll take care of the cooling out,” Julie says. “It’s perfect for the discriminating horse owner with very little time!”
