"I can proudly say," said Mary Phelps, "that I introduced Michael Poulin to DeLand and DeLeon Springs." It was at Spring Garden Ranch that Michael began his central Florida training facility. Within 2 years the International Dressage Institute was built by the efforts and support of his 'following', continuing to increase the horsy population of this very special part of Florida. Join the artists and Museum members and guests for "Horse Tales and Cocktails" the opening of the exhibition celebrating a dramatic subject for artistic expression, the horse, Friday April 29, at the Cultural Arts Center, Deland.
On Sunday, May 1, the living inspiration for these artists, the horses, will come together at Spring Garden Ranch and Olympic Bronze Medallists Michael Poulin, will perform along with his family a dressage exhibition, along with a variety of disciplines and breeds being represented. There will be great food and entertainment along with an art fair and auction.
With the participation of several of the people who train with Michael, this event has become a reality. Judith Thompson, has been spearheading the Equifest activities with weekly meetings all season, and a very active energetic and organized group assuring a great time for both the Equifest Event at Spring Garden Ranch. The following week on Derby Day, May 7th, she will be hosting Derby Party at her home, with an auction. All proceeds for this event goes to benefit the Museum and the programs they offer to the community.

The exhibition will celebrate a dramatic subject for artistic expression, the horse. In this exhibition, new and unique perspectives will be explored. Works will capture the strength and drama of the horse and will be represented in various forms, including both 2D and 3D.
The Deland Museum of Art, located along the beautiful buildings of Stetson University, integrates exhibitions, collections, and educational programs to create an inviting, enriching, and stimulating experience for a diverse audience.
