The ambitious and show-savvy San Diego Chapter of the California Dressage Society managed by Baronsgate Events, presented another top notch show, September 29-30, at Showpark, the Del Mar Horse Park. San Diego is home to top USET riders such as Steffen Peters, Guenter Seidel, Sue Blinks, and Jennifer Hoffman, the warm up and competition arenas hold high standards for all who attend these shows. In addition, having top riders present raises the level of awareness of the possibilities within the sport as well as holding up high standards of performance.

On this particular weekend, many of the show’s competitors spent Saturday evening after the show at “Bubble Up” a fundraiser for a favorite San Diego nonprofit organization of many San Diego dressage riders, Aquatic Adventures.

On this particular weekend, many of the show’s competitors spent Saturday evening after the show at “Bubble Up” a fundraiser for a favorite San Diego nonprofit organization of many San Diego dressage riders, Aquatic Adventures. Founded and directed by dressage rider Shara Fisler, Aquatic Adventures offers to disadvantaged youth in the San Diego area meaningful programs that connect them with the ocean, its resources and its riches in research, in play and in habitat restoration projects.

Jane and Dick Brown sponsored the lovely event which was held at the Birch Aquarium at Script’s in La Jolla. The dressage community encompassed and supported the event as well helping it raise over $100,000 for the charity. The evening’s hosts included such notable dressage riders as Guenter Seidel, Bonnie Baumgartner, Nick Wagman, Elizabeth Keadle, and Yvette Pickrell. Several of these riders had competed earlier that day faring quite well. Photo: Richard Brown and Christina Beal

Host extraordinaire Guenter Seidel won the fourth level with U II Saturday afternoon, just hours before he greeted several hundred guests at Bubble Up. “I bring him (U II) to all of these shows so that he gets used to busy warm-ups arenas. He is learning to concentrate better at each show. At home he can do anything; the exposure of shows is what he needs to learn he can do anything in this setting as well.”
