Ryan Hites and Staatsmann at Golden State Dressage

From 16th till 18th April 1999 Rancho Murieta in sunny California hosted the notorious Golden State Dressage show. With a panel of international judges and a vast field of the best West Coast combinations this competition flourished as spring event.

20 year old Ryan Hites gave an eye-catching performance with the Hanoverian Staatsmann (Sandstrum x Akelie). By receiving 67.18% from O-judges Verbeek (NED), Zang (USA) and Ludwig (GER) in the Young Riders Team test Ryan distanced himself from number two (62.99%) Jennifer Coyne. She won the YR Individual test (63.86%) with her Belgian warmblood gelding Distinguished Gentleman (by Osims) and set Ryan Hites second. Betsy Steiner assists Jennifer Coyne while rolling through the trials for the 1999 North American Young Riders' Championships.

Ryan Hites resides in Washington State where he trains with Roxanne Christensen at the Woodinville Equestrian Center. Competeing her FEI horses Grunnox and Fellini, Christensen and her students travelled to California where Hites is doing the Young Rider selection trials.
