East Hill Farm and Poulsen Dressage LLC are proud to announce Ruth Hogan-Poulsen's recent recognition by the United States Dressage Federation for her success at the highest levels of national dressage competition.
Ruth Hogan-Poulsen was awarded the USDF Gold Medal and the USDF Freestyle Gold Bar at the national federation's annual awards banquet in Dallas, Texas , on December 6, 2003 . These USDF awards recognize riders for excellence at the Grand Prix and international levels. In order to qualify for this honor, Hogan-Poulsen has competed consistently on the New England and Florida show circuits. The Gold Medal recognizes her success in the traditional dressage test formats, while the Freestyle Gold Bar rewards her skill at competing in a choreographed musical “Freestyle” division at the Grand Prix level. .
She won her first Grand Prix this summer on Armando, her 17h Hanoverian gelding, at the Breezy Meadows Dressage Show in Saco , Maine . A highlight of her summer was winning the season-finale Region 8 Prix St Georges Championship aboard Sue Michalek's Danish Warmblood mare, Mon Cheri. Ruth Hogan-Poulsen now focuses on her upcoming competitions in the South Florida dressage show series, beginning in January 2004.
A professional rider, trainer, and instructor, she runs Poulsen Dressage LLC out of her Plainfield farm during the summer. Her husband, Bo Poulsen, a well-recognized farrier, recently returned from assignment at the 2003 Pan American Games held in the Dominican Republic. Both Ruth and Bo relocate their businesses to Wellington , Florida , for the winter competition season. Over the past year, she has expanded her business interests to include a freestyle-choreography service as well as a line of instructional products that she markets to the dressage industry online.
