"Now that the World Cup is over, I am going back on a fast track to ensuring that the 'Search for America's Next Dressage Star' is a huge success." Robert Dover recently told DressageDaily. Contracts are underway with a major television production company who will produce and pitch the program to the networks. "I just started this idea last December, announcing plans at the USDF Convention, and it proceeded to snowball from there" Dover commented.
Young Dressage riders, 28 and younger have until the end of August to sumit their tapes and essays to Dover. The tapes can be of them and their horse at any level. They also need to include a brief bio and why they believe they should be selected. The tapes will be critiqued by a panel of judges in September and the top 5 selected will be brought to Dover's Romance Farm in Wellington, Florida around the middle of October for approximately 3 to 4 weeks.
There they will be trained and examined twice a week on their ability to ride, train, teach, manage stables, and interact with others, all the time being followed around by cameras. At the end of the month, the winner will be announced.
"I am hoping to greatly increase sponsorship of this program in the coming months attracting more businesses to become involved as sponsors. Currently we have Euro-American Saddlery, and DressageDaily with several other companies taking a look at our project." said Dover.
"This idea is huge." stated a a television executive who recently heard of the project. "I have no doubt it will get much exposure as the program takes shape."
