Riders and Judges Prepare for Rio Olympics at the 22 Manfred Swarovski Memorial Dressage Tournament

All that glitters could be a hint of Olympic Gold at the 22 Manfred Swarovski Memorial Tournament beginning Friday, July 1, 2016 with 61 riders from 22 nations and 83 horses. The stage is set, as horses and riders settle in for an important weekend leading which will begin to reveal the still undetermined teams as well as individuals who have put their heart and souls into the ultimate goal in Equestrian sport.

For some including the German powerhouse Isabell Werth with fellow German Olympic team contenders Dorothee Schneider and Jessica von Bredow-Werndl this will be next stepping stone to the yet to be determined team selection.

Olympic fever blows through the alpine rectangle at Schindlhof with other hopefuls such as Canada's Karen Pavicic and Yvonne Losos De Muniz from the Dominican Republic both hoping to get the qualifying scores which will guarantee a ticket to Rio.

Olympic judges Mexican 5* judge Maribel Alonso  Stephen Clarke (GBR), Gary Rockwell (USA), Edward de Wolff van Westerrode (NED), Peter Holler (GER), and Thomas Lang (AUT) will be spending an enchanted weekend in the Austrian alps. None of the Dressage competitors who recently competed at Rotterdam achieved a score of 80% or higher, the magic number will be fought for this weekend.

"We can look forward to top sport. For many of our international starters their countries yet to qualify for the Olympic Games in Rio ", added the hosts Klaus and Evelyn Haim-Swarovski.

In the inaugural in Fritzens Austrian championship in the Para Dressage Austria has three remaining Rio spots to join Pepo Puch, gold and bronze medalist at the 2012 Paralympics in London.

In true European style, the show considered by many riders as well as officials to be a favorite, an entertaining show program on Saturday and Sunday of sporting excellence will feature vaulting as well as a reigning pas de deux.
