Remembering Anne Aspinall

Show Ring to be Re-Named in Her Honor; Celebration of Her Life Planned for May 20

Bridgehampton, NY - The horse show world continues to remember Anne Aspinall, a leading figure at the Topping Riding Club and a founding Board member of the Hampton Classic, who passed away in February after a long battle with cancer.  The Hampton Classic has announced that it is renaming its feature hunter ring as a lasting tribute to her.  Hunter Ring I will now be called the Anne Aspinall Ring.

To further remember her, family and friends will gather on Sunday, May 20 at 4:00 pm for a special “Celebration of the Life of Anne Aspinall.” The celebration will be held in the hunt field of the Topping Riding Club in Sagaponack, NY.  Anne’s friends and all those whose lives she touched are invited to join in celebrating her many accomplishments and contributions.

"Anne was one of the original founders of the Hampton Classic in 1976 and was a leading figure in Long Island’s hunter-jumper industry for more than three decades," said Dennis Suskind, president of the Hampton Classic Board of Directors. "She served on our board and executive committee since day one and played a leading role in the lives of many.  We think that renaming our featured hunter ring in her honor is a fitting way to continue her association with the Hampton Classic and we look forward to celebrating her life at the Topping Riding Club on May 20."

Associated with the Topping Riding Club for decades, Aspinall was one of the most respected hunter-jumper trainers on Long Island.  Over the years, she helped produce countless champions and was recognized by her peers for her abilities and commitment to the industry.  In 2007, she received the Hampton Classic’s inaugural Long Island Sportsmanship Award for her exemplary sportsmanship and more than 35 years of service to the Long Island Hunter-Jumper industry.
