The Dutch warmblood mare Rabiola won the Grand Championship at the 2006 Devon Breed Show in Devon, PA, Wednesday September 28, 2006. The Iron Spring farm owned Rabiola was the star of the day not only winning the Grand championship but also claiming the trophy in the USDF Breeders' Championship for Mares, the Mare Championship, and the 4-year and older Broodmares class.
The 1998 born dark bay mare by Metall out of Fabiola (by Zudok) is bred by P. Crum and owned by Mary Alice Malone of Iron Spring Farm in Coatesville, PA. Rabiola also gave birth to the winner of the Colt of 2006 class, Beaumont ISF (by Rampal).
International breeding Judge Toine Hoefs, who is member of the KWPN licensing committee and has judged at many mare breed shows in The Netherlands was clearly impressed with the quality of the mare. He explained to Dressagedaily that Rabiola had tremendous correct movements from the hocks behind with a natural uphill conformation in front. If she were to compete in any major European breeding show, she would live up to European breeding standards and be very competitive in any breeding competition.
The Reserve Grand Champion was the lovely 2-year old colt Selten HW. The American born Hanoverian colt is by Sandro Hit out of High Princess (by Hohenstein) and was handled by Michael Bragdell. Irene Hoeflich-Wiederhold's Selten HW also won the USDF Breeder's Championship for Colts, the Colt and Gelding Championship and the 2-year Old Colts and Geldings class.
