Devon, PA - April 13, 2015 - The Brandywine Valley Summer Series horse shows presented by Taylor Harris Insurance Services (THIS) is pleased to announce that the premier rated hunter and jumper competition will be returning to the prestigious Devon Show Grounds in 2015.
Brandywine, presented by THIS, will be a summer highlight, held June 23- June 28, 2015 and June 30-July 5, 2015. The 2015 East Coast U.S. Junior Hunter National Championships will also be held at Brandywine July 6-7, 2015, and the series offers a local day of competition on Wednesday, July 8, 2015. The event features a full array of hunter and jumper events for horses and riders of all levels, benefitting the Hill Top Preparatory School and The USHJA Emerging Athletes Program.
Taylor Harris Insurance Services (THIS) has been a continually strong supporter of the series since it's inception, and this year Johnson Horse Transportation is delighted to once again sponsor the $15,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby. The derby will be the Sunday highlight on June 28, during the first week of competition.
Brandywine is also excited to announce that the show series will feature two $5,000 National Hunter Derbies. The Pasmore Family generously sponsors the first week, while Outer Beaches Reality and the Risser Family have sponsored the second week's event. The National Hunter Derbies will each take the Saturday night center stage on both June 27 and July 4. In addition to the spectacular hunter derbies, for the first year Brandywine will offer an exciting $10,000 Young Hunter Stake, which is available for horses 7 years of age and younger.
Brandywine also is now proudly offering a new Hunter Breeding Section, sponsored by Merrylegs South and the Hallman Family. Classes offered within the breeding section are Thoroughbred and non Thoroughbred, Suitable to Produce Hunter, Amateur Handler, Hunter Pony, Thoroughbred and Non Thoroughbred Bred in PA and PA Bred Pony. These spectacular classes will be held during week one on Sunday June 28, 2015 in the Dixon Oval.
Over the two-week series, more than $100,000 in prize money will be awarded across the hunter divisions, ranging from professionals to ponies. With classes held in the Dixon Oval, the Adult Hunters, Children's Hunters and Pony Hunters have the opportunity to compete in front of the esteemed Devon grandstand.
This year's divisions will include the $4,000 Green Working Hunters, the $2,750 High Performance Hunters, the $1,000 Performance 3'3"Hunters, the $1,000 Performance 3'6"Hunters, the $6,600 Amateur Owner Hunters, the $7,500 Junior Hunters (including the Junior Hunter 3'3"section), the $3,900 Pony Hunters, the Children's Hunters, the Adult Amateur Hunters, and many more.
The show will also feature several hunter classics and stakes including the $1,000 Pre-Green Incentive Stake. Junior riders will also have the chance to compete in the WIHS Equitation, the USEF Talent Search, the ASPCA Maclay, the USEF Medal, as well as the THIS Children's Medal.
Jumper classes at Brandywine continue to grow, with alluring prize money offered to jumpers competing throughout the two weeks. Divisions include the $14,500 Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumpers, the $3,500 Children's/Adult Jumpers and more. Highlight events for jumpers include the $5,000 High Junior/Amateur-Owner Hall of Fame Classic and the $3,500 Low Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Hall of Fame Classic.
