Wellington, FL - “This is one of the most difficult sports and I have such respect for amateur riders who, with their limited time, try their best and love what they do. It's wonderful to see,” said Cesar Parra, presenting the Piaffe Performance Adult Amateur Award to Hope Greenfield, of Long Valley, NJ during Week 3 of the Adequan Global Dressage Festival CDIW series at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center in Florida. Greenfield and her new 11-year-old chestnut Dutch warmblood gelding, Wild Houston (Houston x Angel) were second in their FEI Prix St Georges 2009 test with a 61.250%. {C}

“We're still in the process of forming our partnership,” said Greenfield. “We had a great warm-up, but I got a little tight going into the arena. I'm really excited about this horse, he's fun and he gives me a lot of confidence. Our goal is to move up to Intermediare I, which I've never ridden before. But let's give it a year first before we're really solid.”

Greenfield is among the first recipients of the new award, sponsored by Cesar Parra and Piaffe Performance dressage and training facility of Wellington.

The awards, being presented throughout the series, recognize exceptional adult amateurs for their success in the arena or their contribution to the sport through outstanding sportsmanship or horsemanship.

Each award-winning rider receives a Piaffe Performance rosette commemorating their achievement, as well as an engraved silver picture frame to hold a lasting memory of their ride and horse.

“In the end, it's all about the horse,”said Parra, who rode last season on one of two U.S. Dressage squads riding in Wellington's CDIO Nations Cup. “I really like to support riders like Hope, whose love for horses and this sport keeps it strong. The bigger our base, the stronger the top of our sport will be.”

The 2014 Adequan Global Dressage Festival, one of the world's largest international and national dressage circuits, will feature six CDIs, the only non-championship CDIO Nations Cup in the Western Hemisphere, and five national title events before its conclusion in March.

Cesar Parra, DDS, MScD, operates Piaffe Performance in Jupiter, FL and Whitehouse Station, NJ and was born in Colombia. He now rides for the US and he and Van the Man were the highest placing American combination in the GDF 3 Grand Prix Freestyle.
