Peter Pletcher Wins Ovation Leading Professional Hunter Rider Title and Grand Working Hunter Championship

Traverse City, MI - The hunters were very busy today at Horse Shows by the Bay.  Peter Pletcher and NLF Shakespear's Rhythm were Grand Working Hunter Champions. Pletcher was also Ovation Leading Professional Hunter Rider.

"This is the fourth year I have won this award. It's nice, it's great, and they do such a good job with this horse show. It is nice to be a consistent hunter rider. I have really been pushing NLF Shakespear's Rhythm to be a derby horse and he has really fallen into that slot, he is really game," smiled Pletcher.

Pletcher and NLF Shakespear's Rhythm were champions of the Green/Regular Working Hunter division this week at Horse Shows by the Bay III. The pair won all four over fences classes and were second under saddle. They will go on to Kentucky to compete at the hunter derby finals.

In the Green/Regular Working Hunters, the reserve championship ribbon was awarded to Eclipse and Samantha Segedy.

In the Green Conformation Hunters, the champion was News To Me with Meg Howard-Fuleky in the irons. Yesterday, they were third in the model, won both over fences classes, and picked up another third place in the hack. Today, they picked up two blues over fences.  "He is a Dutch Warmblood and is six years old. This is only his sixth horse show doing the 3'6," said Howard-Fuleky.   "Meg [Howard-Fuleky] has been with him since the beginning. We are very fortunate to have her help," raved Lissa Guyton, owner of News To Me.

The reserve champion of the Green Conformation Hunters was Lacoste and Peter Pletcher.

In the Junior Hunters, the grand champion was Lugano and Eliza Frankel. Yesterday, the pair won both over fences classes. Today, they were second in the hack, first over fences, and fourth in their handy round.  "Lugano is nine years old, we bought him four years ago. We were grand champion here last year. The lines were long but he was really good," commented Frankel.

Reserve champion of the Large Junior Hunters 15 and under was Olivier and Anne Westbay.

In the Large Junior Hunters 16-17, Laura Pfeiffer picked up the championship ribbon aboard Elliot and the reserve championship ribbon for her ride on Rio's Splash.

In the Small Junior Hunters, the champion was Raquel and Laura Pfeiffer. The reserve champion was awarded to Park Place and Chloe Johnson.

In the Junior Hunter Classic, the blue ribbon was awarded to Elliot and Laura Pfeiffer. Pfeiffer was also the Ovation Leading Junior Hunter Rider.
